He is a former member of a Professional Review Organization, Woodland Park Hosptial (Partners in Health) and has held health care licenses in Radiology and Massage Therapy.
The treatment of workmen's compensation cases and the field of personal injury cases has been a great source of satisfaction to Dr. Braswell. He explains that back injuries resulting from job accidents are the largest single injury in the United States today. Also whiplash and back injuries resulting from auto accidents are unique in that all too often patients come to us for these conditions only after they have been improperly treated or totally neglected.
At a time when more and more people are turning "back to nature" Chiropractic makes sense, according to Dr. Robert Braswell. "Chiropractic is based on the belief that the body can heal itself and maintain its own health", he explained. There is often no need for drugs or corrective surgery.
"Many ailments occur when a vertebrae along the spine is out of alignment", he said. "It can put pressure upon the nerves that lie along the spinal cord and cause everything from back pain and neck problems to allergies and headaches. These pains are symptoms and the symptoms are, in turn, the body's warning signals. A headache is one warning sign, and for that there are several different treatments possible. Typically, a person will take an aspirin for the pain but that's only treating the symptom, not the real problem", he said. "Asprin sidesteps the body's normal defense mechanisms. People must learn to separate the cause from the symptom". The Chiropractor uses his hands when he adjusts the spinal vertebrae and relieves the pressure causing the pain or sickness. Dr. Braswell refuted the widespread notion that this adjustment is painful. "Even small children look forward to coming for treatment", he noted. He added that his practice is not only effective, but also economical compared to other health care treatments because hospitalization is never required. "We will, however, refer patients to appropriate physicians if symptoms warrant", he said.
Because of pre-conceived barriers on the part of many persons toward Chiropractic, Dr. Braswell offers consultations to anyone considering treatment. "I can't overemphasize the need of communication between doctor and patient", he said. "I want to do all I can to further a truer understanding of Chiropractic". What's something exciting your business offers?
